Metyrapone may induce adrenal insufficiency and cause dizziness and sedation.
Warnings and Precautions
Metopirone may induce acute adrenal insufficiency, particularly in patients with reduced adrenal secretory capacity. Therefore, the adrenal glands' response to exogenous ACTH should be verified before conducting the test. Patients with thyroid dysfunction may have abnormal test results. Additionally, Metopirone can cause dizziness and sedation; hence, patients should avoid driving or operating machinery until these effects resolve. Close monitoring is advised, especially for those with a compromised pituitary function.
