Precautions include the risk of thromboembolic events, loss of response, and adverse reactions in specific populations.
Precautions of NPL® (Romiplostim)
NPLATE® should be used cautiously due to the potential for thromboembolic complications, including portal vein thrombosis, particularly in patients with chronic liver disease. The risk of progression of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) to acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) is increased in certain patients with MDS, and NPLATE® should be used with caution or avoided in these individuals. Thrombocytopenia may persist despite treatment due to the development of neutralizing antibodies. The drug is contraindicated in pregnant women, as it may cause fetal harm, and it is advised not to breastfeed during treatment.
