Before taking this medicine
COSENTYX carries risks of serious infections, hypersensitivity reactions, tuberculosis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), requiring caution in certain patient populations.
Precautions for COSENTYX Use
Before initiating COSENTYX, patients should be assessed for tuberculosis, and all age-appropriate vaccinations should be completed. Serious infections, including TB, fungal infections, and bacterial sepsis, have been reported. In cases of serious infections, COSENTYX should be discontinued until recovery. Hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, can occur, necessitating discontinuation and appropriate treatment. COSENTYX should be used cautiously in patients with a history of IBD, as exacerbations were observed in clinical trials. Additionally, live vaccines should be avoided due to the immunosuppressive effects of COSENTYX.
