Before taking this medicine
PEGASYS may cause serious side effects, requiring careful monitoring for neuropsychiatric, autoimmune, cardiovascular, and other disorders.
Precautions for Using PEGASYS
PEGASYS requires careful monitoring due to its potential to cause or exacerbate serious disorders, including neuropsychiatric (e.g., depression, suicidal ideation), autoimmune conditions, and cardiovascular disorders. Patients should be monitored for signs of bone marrow suppression, thyroid dysfunction, and liver decompensation. Hepatic failure or exacerbation of hepatitis B may occur, especially in cirrhotic patients. Serious skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, are also possible. It is essential to conduct regular assessments, including psychiatric evaluations, to determine the necessity for dose adjustments or discontinuation of therapy based on adverse reactions.
