Chemical Properties
The chemical name of dexamethasone is 9-fluoro-11β,17,21-trihydroxy-16α-methylpregna-1,4-diene-3,20-dione. It has a molecular weight of 392.47 g/mol and a molecular formula of C₂₂H₂₉FO₅.
It is a white to almost white, odorless crystalline powder, stable in air, and almost insoluble in water.
Storage Methods for Dexamethasone
Storage of Unopened Drug
Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
Short-term fluctuations within the range of 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F) are permitted.
Keep in a tightly closed, light-resistant container that is difficult for children to open.
Transportation Precautions
During transportation, the drug should be kept within the recommended temperature range, and exposure to extreme temperature and humidity conditions should be avoided.
