Precautions for Voxzogo Administration
Standardized use of Voxzogo is conducive to exerting its efficacy, and the following clinical points require special attention.
Growth and Development Monitoring
Measure height and weight every 3 months and record the growth curve. Regular bone age examinations are conducted to assess the closure of epiphyses. Renal function should be checked every 6 months during treatment, and the drug should be discontinued when eGFR < 60ml/min/1.73m².
Injection Operation Specifications
The lyophilized powder needs to be reconstituted with a special diluent, and gently rotated until completely dissolved. For subcutaneous injection, the injection sites should be rotated, avoiding red and swollen areas. The reconstituted solution must be used within 3 hours, and any unused portion must be discarded. After injection, observe for 30 minutes and monitor blood pressure changes.
Management of Adverse Reactions
Common injection site reactions can be treated with cold compresses. In case of hypotensive symptoms such as dizziness, the patient should lie down and rest. Severe rashes require temporary discontinuation of the drug and topical application of glucocorticoids. In case of vomiting and diarrhea, attention should be paid to supplementing electrolytes, and medical attention should be sought if necessary.
Dietary Precautions for Voxzogo
Reasonable dietary cooperation can enhance drug absorption, reduce adverse reactions, and promote the growth and development of children.
Daily Nutrition Management
Intake of 1.5-2g/kg of high-quality protein per day, preferably fish, lean meat, and soy products. Supplement 400-800IU/d of vitamin D and 500-800mg/d of calcium to promote bone development. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits to provide antioxidants.
Diet Before and After Medication
One hour before injection, a regular meal containing protein and carbohydrates should be taken, such as an egg sandwich with milk. Drink 240-300ml of warm water or light salt water. Avoid strenuous exercise within 2 hours after injection, and can supplement potassium-containing foods such as bananas.
Avoid high-fat diets as they may affect drug absorption. Limit caffeine intake to no more than 50mg per day (about half a cup of coffee). Avoid raw and cold foods to prevent gastroenteritis. Children with allergic diatheses should avoid known allergens.
