Danazol(Danocrine) instructions: indications
Endometriosis
Danazol is indicated for endometriosis on hormonal therapy.
Fibrocystic breast disease
Most cases of symptomatic fibrocystic breast disease can be treated with simple measures.
In a small number of patients, symptoms of pain and tenderness may be severe enough to be treated by suppressing ovarian function. Danazol is usually effective in reducing nodules, pain, and tenderness. This treatment is not harmless, as it involves a fairly high alteration of hormonal levels, and there is a recurrence of symptoms after stopping treatment.
Hereditary angioedema
Danazol is used to prevent episodes of angioedema in all types (skin, abdomen, larynx) in both men and women.
Recommended dose
Endometriosis
For patients with moderate to severe disease or endometriosis infertility, a starting dose of 800mg is recommended in two divided doses. For patients with mild disease, an initial daily dose of 200mg to 400mg is recommended to be given in two divided doses, which can be adjusted by doctors according to the patient's response.
Fibrocystic breast disease
The total daily dose of Danazol for the treatment of fibrocystic breast disease ranges from 100mg to 400mg, administered in two divided doses depending on the patient's response.
Hereditary angioedema
The dosing requirements for the ongoing treatment of hereditary angioedema with Danazol should be individualized based on the patient's clinical response. Patients are advised to start taking 200 mg 2-3 times a day. After a good initial response to the prevention of edema episodes, the appropriate sustained dose should be determined by reducing the dose by 50% or less every 1 to 3 months or more if the pre-treatment episode frequency requires it. In case of seizures, the daily dose can be increased by up to 200 mg. During the dose adjustment phase, clinicians should closely monitor the patient's response, particularly those with a history of airway involvement.
Applicable population
For adult patients, please take medication under the guidance of a doctor.
