Description
DIACOMIT (stiripentol) is an anticonvulsant used to treat Dravet syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy. Stiripentol is used in combination with clobazam and other anticonvulsants to help control seizures that are resistant to other treatments. DIACOMIT works to reduce seizure frequency and improve the patient's quality of life, particularly in pediatric populations. The medication is dispensed in capsules and oral suspension forms for flexibility in administration depending on the patient’s age and swallowing ability.
Dosage and Administration
Dosage: The recommended dosage of DIACOMIT is 50 mg/kg/day, administered in 2 or 3 divided doses.
Administration:
Capsules: Must be swallowed whole with a glass of water during meals. They should not be broken or opened.
Oral Suspension: Mix the powder in a glass of water and take immediately after mixing, also during a meal.
Dose Adjustments: If necessary, the dose may be gradually reduced or discontinued, particularly if adverse effects occur.
