Adverse Reactions

Based on limited clinical experience, adverse events reported with Ca-DTPA include headache, lightheadedness, chest pain, allergic reactions, dermatitis, a metallic taste, nausea, diarrhea, and reactions at the injection site. Specific to the nebulized route, cough and wheezing have been observed, including in a patient with a history of asthma. Furthermore, the drug causes depletion of essential trace metals like zinc, magnesium, and manganese, especially with repeated dosing.
