Common adverse reactions include vitamin A deficiency (15%), vomiting (9%), and injection site reactions (7%).
Safety Profile
In clinical trials, 15% of patients experienced decreased vitamin A (classified as deficiency or laboratory reduction), 9% reported vomiting, and 7% had injection site erythema, pain, or pruritus. Serious adverse reactions included AV block (2%), with one case of complete heart block.
Other notable effects were proteinuria (8%), blurred vision (6%), and cataract (6%). Ocular symptoms linked to hypovitaminosis A warrant monitoring. Immunogenicity occurred in 37% of patients, but anti-drug antibodies did not alter efficacy or safety outcomes. Long-term risks were not observed in preclinical studies.
